Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • Buttermilk (sour) ) 1 cup milk)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red liquid food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • Cream cheese for frosting (optional)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350° F ( Preheat to 180° C) and grease. Flour three round cake molds.
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt in a large bowl.
In a separate bowl, combine vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, vanilla, food coloring, and vinegar.
Gradually add the liquid mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until a smooth, homogeneous dough forms.
Divide the batter evenly into the prepared molds and carefully pour.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for a few minutes, then carefully remove from the pan and place on a wire rack to cool completely.
If you like, slather the cake with cream cheese frosting for an extra delicious touch.
