Creamy Beef & Mushroom Rice Bake
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Cook the Beef & Mushrooms:
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add onion, mushrooms, and garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables are soft and fragrant, about 5–7 minutes.
- Stir in thyme or Italian seasoning, and season with salt and pepper.
3. Make the Creamy Sauce:
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour to make a roux and cook for 1–2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth and heavy cream. Simmer until the sauce thickens slightly, about 3–4 minutes.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese and Worcestershire sauce. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
4. Assemble the Rice Bake:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked rice, beef and mushroom mixture, and the creamy sauce. Mix well.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread evenly and top with shredded cheese.
5. Bake and Garnish:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Serving Suggestions:
- Pair with a fresh green salad or steamed vegetables.
- Serve with crusty bread to soak up the creamy sauce.
