Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Burgers
  1. In a bowl, mix the ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into patties (about 1/2 inch thick).
  2. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush the grill grates with oil or melted butter.
  3. Grill the burgers for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Remove from heat and let them rest.
Step 2: Caramelize the Onions
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add butter and olive oil.
  2. Once the butter has melted, add the sliced onions. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes until the onions are soft and golden brown.
  3. Add balsamic vinegar or Worcestershire sauce for added depth of flavor. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
Step 3: Make the Sauce (optional)
  1. In a small saucepan, add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer.
  2. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 minutes, until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper as desired.
Step 4: Assemble
  1. Place the grilled burger patties on a serving plate.
  2. Spoon the caramelized onions over the burgers.
  3. Drizzle with the optional sauce for extra richness.
