Grilled Burgers with Caramelized Onions
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Burgers
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Form into patties (about 1/2 inch thick).
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush the grill grates with oil or melted butter.
- Grill the burgers for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Remove from heat and let them rest.
Step 2: Caramelize the Onions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add butter and olive oil.
- Once the butter has melted, add the sliced onions. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes until the onions are soft and golden brown.
- Add balsamic vinegar or Worcestershire sauce for added depth of flavor. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
Step 3: Make the Sauce (optional)
- In a small saucepan, add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer.
- Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 minutes, until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper as desired.
Step 4: Assemble
- Place the grilled burger patties on a serving plate.
- Spoon the caramelized onions over the burgers.
- Drizzle with the optional sauce for extra richness.
Enjoy your flavorful burgers!
