Loaded Bacon Cheese Fries
Instructions:
- Cook the Fries:
- Prepare the French fries according to package instructions or make homemade fries. Aim for crispy fries to hold the toppings well.
For homemade fries:
- Peel (optional) and cut 2 large potatoes into 1/4-inch sticks.
- Toss with 2 tbsp olive oil, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp pepper.
- Spread on a baking sheet and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
- Prepare the Toppings:
- While the fries are cooking, fry the bacon until crispy, drain on a paper towel, and crumble into small pieces.
- Shred the cheese and slice the green onions.
- Assemble the Loaded Fries:
- Place cooked fries on a large oven-safe plate or tray.
- Sprinkle generously with cheese and bacon.
- Return to the oven for 5–7 minutes at 400°F (200°C), or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Finish and Serve:
- Drizzle sour cream or ranch dressing over the top.
- Sprinkle with green onions, paprika, and additional salt and pepper if needed.
- Serve immediately and enjoy while warm!
Optional Add-Ons:
- Jalapeños: Add sliced jalapeños for a spicy kick.
- Chili: Top the fries with a layer of chili before the cheese for a chili cheese fries twist.
- Guacamole or Salsa: Add dollops of guacamole or fresh salsa for a Tex-Mex vibe.
