Open-Face Garlic Toast Sloppy Joes
Ingredients:
- 4 slices of thick sourdough bread
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
Brush the sourdough slices with olive oil and rub them with minced garlic. Place on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and bell pepper until the meat is browned and the vegetables are soft, about 7-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
Stir in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes, until the mixture thickens slightly.
Spoon the beef mixture over the toasted garlic bread slices. Top each with shredded cheddar cheese.
Return to the oven for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
