Original Philly Cheesesteak
Ingredients:
– 1/2 pound thinly sliced ribeye steak
– 2 tablespoons canola oil
– 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
– 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Soft hoagie 2 – Buns, divided
– 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (optional)
– 4 slices of provolone cheese
Original Philly Cheesesteak
Prepare:
1. Heat 1 tablespoon canola oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
2. Add onions and peppers (if using), season with salt and pepper, and caramelize for about 6 to 8 minutes. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
3. Add the remaining tablespoon of rapeseed oil to the same skillet and increase the heat to high. Add the ribeye slices, season with salt and pepper, and cook, stirring frequently, until golden brown, about 1 minute.
4. Reduce heat to medium. Return the onions and peppers to the pot and mix with the steak.
5. Divide steak mixture between hoagie rolls. Top with 2 slices of provolone cheese.
6. If desired, place the sandwich under the broiler for 1 minute until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
7. If desired, spread mayonnaise on the other half of the hoagie roll before closing the sandwich.
