Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a loaf pan.
- Cook the Vegetables: In a skillet over medium heat, add a little oil and sauté the onions and bell peppers until they are soft and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Add garlic and cook for another minute. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Prepare the Meat Mixture:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, salt, black pepper, oregano, and garlic powder.
- Add the sautéed onions, peppers, and garlic to the meat mixture and mix until just combined.
- Fold in the shredded cheese, mixing gently to avoid overworking the meat.
- Shape the Meatloaf: Transfer the meat mixture to your baking sheet or loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.
- Bake the Meatloaf:
- Bake for 45 minutes. Remove from the oven, and if using ketchup as a glaze, spread it on top.
- Arrange the provolone slices on top of the meatloaf and return it to the oven for another 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Rest and Serve: Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Serve with mashed potatoes, veggies, or on hoagie rolls with extra cheese for a Philly-style sandwich!
