Scalloped Potatoes Recipe
Ingredients:
4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
3 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 cups milk
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup grated cheese (cheddar or Gruyère) for garnish
Add salt Season to taste
Optional: 1/2 cup sliced scallions, a pinch of cayenne pepper
Scalloped Potatoes Recipe
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook until golden brown, 1 to 2 minutes.
Add the milk little by little and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
Remove from heat and stir in sharp cheddar cheese, salt, and optional cayenne pepper until smooth.
Spread half of the potato slices in a baking dish. Pour half of the cheese sauce over it.
Layer the remaining potatoes on top and top with the remaining sauce.
Sprinkle the remaining grated cheese on top.
Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove the lid and bake for a further 15-20 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
