Vanilla Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line with parchment paper.
Step 2: Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 4: Add eggs one at a time and stir until everything is well mixed. Add vanilla extract and stir.
Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined, being careful not to overmix.
Step 6: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the surface with a spatula.
Step 7: Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Step 8: Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 9: Once cool, assemble the cake layers with your favorite icing or enjoy plain slices.
